AGD Systems, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of ITS product solutions, is to exhibit at this year’s JCT Symposium and Exhibition, 12-13 September 2018 at The Nottingham Conference Centre.

At JCT, AGD will showcase its WiFi-enabled, IP-capable 645 Pedestrian Detector – now with 10m x 3m detection zone; the non-intrusive, loop-replacing 318 Traffic Control Radar and the new 343 Highways Monitoring radar. Visitors to AGD’s stand can expect to see the following innovations:

AGD will also be previewing its exciting new radar detection product for highways at JCT. Developed using AGD’s experience and expertise in designing radars for highway enforcement, the new AGD 343 Highways Monitoring Radar is an easy-to-integrate traffic flow monitoring solution that provides real-time data on multi-lane highways.

With highway authorities calling for a moratorium on penetration of the road surface there is increasing demand for more flexible above-ground traffic monitoring solutions, explains Ian Hind, AGD’s commercial director: “The 343 was developed in response to feedback from the UK and around the world that there is a need to be able to locate traffic monitoring radar close to the carriageway. Most radars must be mounted between 5m and 8m from the carriageway, and there isn’t always that amount of space available. The 343 can be mounted as close as 2m from inner edge of the inside lane and will still provide information for the lane immediately below the radar, as well as the lane on the farthest point of the carriageway.”

In order to create the solution, AGD worked with a design partner to develop a bespoke antenna that allows the 343 to look down at 30 degrees, as well as being able to monitor ten lanes of traffic, looking across both carriageways to detect vehicle travel in approaching and receding directions.

“The 343 can be used almost anywhere for better-informed decision-making and optimised traffic flows. It combines well with our enforcement solutions to offer a full product suite for UK smart motorways and international highways,” says Ian Hind.
